More Motorcycle Adventures

Sooo, last night I practiced riding a bike again on my friend's boyfriend's bike. After getting used to the clutch again, we went up on a grass field. Got off on my first try and was attempting to make a broad circle. However, the field was mostly a hill and I couldn't quite get the bike to turn like I wanted. I began heading for a holly bush so I hit the brakes, lost my balance and flipped off the bike. It was quite hilarious. I wish that Tyler and Mason had been video taping, I'd love to see what it looked like when I flipped over. No worries though, I only got a big pretty bruise on one thigh and bruised my hand a little bit. His bike got messed up a little though. I broke his right side mirror, which I took home as a commemorative trophy of my first fall. I also bent his light and handlebar a little. I offered to pay for any damage but he said it was alright. I hope my parents don't read this one, they might be a little upset. But this is definitely a fun memory that I thought I'd share.

Love

When someone tells you they would give up their seat  in Heaven for you, you know it's true love. God made me the way I am for someone special. I have made many mistakes, but all can be forgiven if I ask. I hope that I can be all the my Love is. Love you are all that anyone could ask for and God put you in my life for a special reason. Tonight has been a rough night but I want you to know I love you. I want to be the best I can be for God and for you. God's answered your questions, now I must ask Him mine. He will show me the way. His plan will be revealed. Love always and forever.

Motorcycles!

So today I got my motorcycle permit which is kind of exciting! I don't actually own a bike, but I hope to get one someday. The problem is that I don't have time for an actual job right now. So I need ideas for alternate legal ways to make money while in college. Please comment and help me out.

Self

What makes up our sense of self? Is it how we were raised, the friends we made, or events? I believe all of these play a role in our sense of self. The way we are raised influences are beliefs and morals. Personality develops with socialization. Major events over the course of our lives play a huge role in our sense of self. Being raised in a Southern Baptist environment enabled me to develop certain beliefs about the afterlife, my view of God, morals, and also provided an opportunity for socialization. Many of the friends I made at church remain some of the most import people in my life. I can rely on these people to set me straight, provide comfort in times of need, and help me make difficult decisions. All of these have made me into the person I am today. Sense of self, for me, is a complex idea. Sometimes I feel like I don't really know what "categories" I fit in to. I was raised Baptist, played sports as an athlete, lover, southern, and tomboy. All these describe who I am, but there's a lot more to me. My hope is that I can be more honest with myself and find a place for me on this Earth.

September 22, 2011

Last year, I believe it was, my cousin Angie was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. The doctors found it from a simple urine test on a regular office visit. She was placed on the kidney transplant list. Recently, my mom told me she was getting very close to going on dialysis. Last night the doctors called Angie and said they had a kidney! Angie, my Uncle Tony, and Aunt Joan drove from Green Sea to Charleston and had to be there before midnight. This morning she had the surgery and it was a success! My mom and dad went down today to see her in the hospital. At the time I called, she was sleeping. I just want to praise God for providing this kidney for her and I pray that she lives a full and healthy life. I love you Angie and you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope I get to come down and see you soon. Thank you Lord for all you have provided for my family!

The Roads Forgotten

Roads forgotten through the sands of time, take me back to a simpler place. Those days have long faded into complexity and a race to beat the clock. Slowing down is near impossible, but it's what I long for.

I hold dearest to me my childhood and nostalgia fills my thoughts. A time when playgrounds became battlefields and bedsheets-forts. It was these times that I was happiest. Another moment I miss were the times I'd sit in my Daddy's lap and steer the old blue van through the neighborhood while he corrected my attempts to take on mailboxes. :)

I want my dirt roads back, my green fields, the pastures of horses and cows. A place where people could support themselves and the community was intertwined. Front doors never locked and fence posts only served as a landmark for a foot race. I turn my head from the modern world of office jobs and science before morals.Time has sped up on me, if only I could take the clock off the wall. Deadlines, due dates, minute-to-minute schedules. These don't belong in my time.

Nature where I find my peace, clear my mind, and marvel at the creations my God has set before my eyes.

My wish....for my roads forgotten to once again discovered.
